Bugger, fell off the wagon!Day 10
Themes, tropes, etcTropes/kinks/themes I love ---
we-ee-ell. Firstly, and ultimately, I prefer a romance. I am not that picky on how it comes about. It can be cloaked in anything - angst, mystery, tragedy, humour, whatever. I will absolutely enjoy a gen-fic, and frequently do, but if I may say so without alienating anyone (oh, I'm sure you all know this about me by now anyway), I do like a fic with a pairing... and at least a smooch, or even just a lingering touch, or hey, #allthethings. Just... fruition.
I love anything to do with books. A favourite is Snape the editor/publisher, Hermione the author, as has been done brilliantly by stgulik
I am also keen on it the other way around, see 'quotation
', by Nylex.
I enjoy a post-war Snape: grey, glasses, Muggle clothes, awkward, tentative. I like a Hermione that hasn't had all her family, dog, great aunt and car char-grilled by DEs, and hence must experience many more terrible things in order to be saved by an unlikeable knight. I love a Harry and Ron that make sense (see The Silvering Divide
, Somigliana, and on that note, Snape the Selkie makes me so happy and complete that I can't even explain just WHY this is my all time favourite story).
I like characters that I feel I know. Over Time and Tide, by CeleryThesis
, is a brilliant example of this. Severus and his music, Hermione and her 90s clothes. It feels right
to me. ALSO, in case anyone has got this far, she's recently put up another one-shot in this universe. 'Ordinary Time'.
Perfect for those of us that needed lightness after the last work, but also just... luscious.
Plus, on that note, I love to devour a gorgeous epistolary romance.
I also love a good student/teacher. Perhaps it's not consumated until after graduation, perhaps it's before, perhaps it's 'Tits to the table, Miss Granger. I am going to fuck you full of splinters',
but hell, I like it. Remind me to re-read Caramel
, by corianderpie, again.
I'm also a sucker for a Regency AU, or ANY periodAU. I don't mind a MuggleAU, either.
De-Aged Snape is also a favourite. Unfortunately, one of my top 5 fics of all time - 'Disguised Affections' by dressagegrrl--
with this as a theme is not around any longer.
As for kinks, hm. I am constantly learning about what I enjoy, so I'm not sure that I can answer that yet! But... voices, at the moment. Accents, languages. Timbre. Tone.
Talk about a creator
Gee, I could talk all day about a long list of women that have inspired me with their creations. If I may simply do this: every single person on my LJ-flist is, to me, wonderful. I am constantly humbled and in awe of this fantastic group of people.Day 12Fan spaces
I am very boring, and only really wade around in the waters of a FB group or two on my fandom profile (feel free to add, I'm 'Lena Alm'). Otherwise, I belong to these comms, and their fests just blow my mind. There are some perfect stories on each of these. sshg_smut
A moment in fandom that meant a lot to me...
When I strolled in here, not knowing anything, and realised that people were talking about my stories.
It blew my mind. I was gobsmacked. I couldn't (and still can't) get my head around readers chatting about what they liked, or sharing their favourite scenes. I was doing OK on FFnet, posting and chatting on the messages there, but when I came here, it felt like coming home.Day 14
An act of kindness.
I've got my thinking cap on, so err... nothing to say here, for now.
